Democrats love forest fires –OR they would use common sense forestry, build more hydro dams, quit lying about electric companies causing forest fires, consider the cost of electricity when demanding green energy (Calif is up to 20 cents/kwh compared to Okla and Texas at 11 cents/kwh)…. Forest fires cause Erosion/mud slides for the next hundred years, removes the ability of vegetation to remove carbon dioxide from the air, … Some families lose everything in these fires, -tremendous loss of life, homes, businesses, … We all want green energy, -just quit lying about the consequences of insane policy.
btw, For a PG&E customer owning a single family home the gross cost for installing a 10kW solar system is $30,000. And that is just the beginning -you also need a room full of batteries -which have to be kept under air conditioning 24/7 to keep the batteries from blowing up -get the picture?! and I have not mentioned replacing the batteries every couple of years.
Yet, the Calif law requires PG&E to spend $Millions on solar -diverting money from real solutions to getting reasonable electricity rates. Your Calif home insurance and electric bills are just beginning to rocket up and away!!
btw, democrat Schiff has wildfires in his district -but Schiff is in Washington very busy with lying about Ukraine, hiding his planted so called whistle-blower, & acting like he can get away with hate crime day after day.
The total % of solar power and other alternative fuels can go up every year -as long as paid for by the consumer and higher taxes and higher electric rates –until the consumer can’t eat anymore -then they just might vote the democrat hate life machine out of office.
btw, the homeowner asked why his lights were off while -the lights across the street were on?! There was a tree across the electric line -a tree the homeowner had refused to let the utility company trim or remove -maybe the homeowner should be a little bit responsible.
Blaming the electric companies for forest fires is what happens when the left uses hate opinion as fact. The fact is utilities -at the most cause 1 in 10,000 forest fires. Forest fires are started mainly by smokers throwing out cigarettes, campers, arson, small domestic fires getting out of control, kids and adults playing with fire and drugs, lightning, wind, …, –blaming utility companies is a joke –politicians simply hiding behind hate media.
Lightning can hit a power line and cause a fire –you ain’t gonna stop or control lightning –utility companies invest in shield wires, lightning arresters, circuit breakers, –but lightning does what it does. The shield wire is the best effort to get lightning to ground without taking out utility equipment (the substation transformer could cost over a $ Million dollars, -and cause a lot of outage time before the lights come back on).
Wind can cause a power line to come down -but if you design a power line for tornadoes, winds above 100mph, and other storms -just not practical -spend 10x as much for electricity and mother nature will still bring down power lines.
Politicians are dumber than wood when it comes to electric transmission and what causes the lights to come on -and even dumber when it comes to what causes a forest fire. And then the democrat politicians lie thru their teeth about electric power outages –keeping the power on is complex, expensive, and not gonna happen when storms hit, equipment is not maintained($$), and politicians and leftist judges manage electric companies.
The best thing that could happen to Calif is just let Newsom and democrats have the power company –and inside of 4 years –the blackouts would get you a republican landslide. No, -probably not possible -the democrat hate media propaganda machine is in full control of the minds of half of America now.
Thugs like gov Newsom and the left media need a scapegoat –but beware –if electric companies have to declare electric outages (to keep from being sued) every time the wind blows or a lightning strike is possible –then good luck.
And with corrupt politicians like gov Gavin Newsom passing so many environmental regulations that even building great hydro dams –become almost impossible to build. Instead of passing the law requiring a solar panel on every house –Newsom might consider using a tile or metal roof –or other roof material that is fire-proof as opposed to fire-resistant.
Makes me sad, -such a waste to destroy California, Oregon, and many other states –because of the democrat hate media.
The US government owns a third of America, –how about taking care of it? Developing it in a way that preserves the land and makes more opportunity for all Americans.
